There is no useful single AWS price for every WordPress website. Costs depend on the architecture, usage and support arrangements. Ask for an estimate tied to a specific setup, with its assumptions made clear.
Separate the setup project from the running bill.
Designing and configuring the environment is implementation work. The resources that keep running afterward generate ongoing cloud charges. Website and server maintenance may be another agreed cost.
A proposal should identify those parts separately. That makes it easier to understand a low setup quote that leaves ongoing responsibilities to your team, or a support arrangement that includes more of the day-to-day work.
Ask which services the estimate includes.
Not every website needs every item. The important question is whether the proposed services have a clear purpose. A more complicated architecture is not automatically a better value for a small site.
- The application server and its operating schedule.
- Storage capacity and any separately configured performance.
- Backups and how long copies are retained.
- Traffic, data transfer and content-delivery services.
- Load balancing, database services, monitoring and other chosen components.
Make usage assumptions visible.
Expected traffic, media downloads, storage growth and background jobs can affect the estimate. Ask which assumptions were used and what would cause the bill to increase.
Include the maintenance plan in the decision. Someone needs to handle updates, review alerts and keep recovery arrangements usable. Cloud ownership without time or expertise to maintain it can be difficult for a business to manage.
Review cost alongside the website's needs.
For an existing website, a performance review can help distinguish wasted resources from a genuine capacity need. Reducing a bill at the expense of essential backup or recovery arrangements may be a poor trade-off.
